Whistling in the dark~

I am going on a trip this weekend~

Going on a bus~ I will play with my DS and I will sleep and I will go OH MY GOD WHEN WILL THIS BUS RIDE END!? ;________________________;

I am on vacation, yes yes I am. I am resting and my doctor and I have agreed: if in one month I am still short of breath then I will do a pulmonary test. I will also get my eyes checked and hopefully change my glasses so that the headaches will go away. But I think it's all stress related because ever since work was over, I stopped getting the almost daily headaches.

My wrist still hurts. Repetitive strain and all that. I was making kaos for people:




(Oh wait, just got a phone call. No trip to Quebec. ;___; Well we go somewhere else I guess.)

I have a headache and I had it since 8-9 PM last night.

I'm such a whiner about headaches. I hardly ever get headaches prior to this semester and now I get them almost every week. I'm not used to this and I get the feeling I make this out to be a bigger issue than it is.

On the other hand, it bothers me that I suddenly get headaches on a more frequent basis. Before I started teaching, I get headaches once in a blue moon. I have really strong suspicions that this is somehow related to my job. Stress, environment, whatever.

The only way for me to find out is through the summer break. I'll have the opportunity to sleep in, do relaxing things, and not wake up every now and then going "oh God (name)'s going to have to finish that photograph or he won't get it to me in time for marking." (At fucking 7 AM on a Saturday too! D:<)

Anyway, today I have to stay late after school for two hours to help a student. Maybe I can lug a bunch of sketchbooks down to the Mac lab and do some marking inbetween that.

JT from NightGig and I were chatting yesterday and he talked about how maybe I should consider putting up some of my art as t-shirt designs. Truth be told, I am intrigued by this idea. Especially the part where I keep my rights and possibly make money.

Actually I don't even mind the money part. I just want to retain my rights. I mean it would be nice to make money but I'm not expecting a lot of people to buy my designs anyway so that's less of a concern for me.

I went through the site yesterday but at 2 AM, I couldn't look my way through a paper bag if I tried. I'll try again though but so far no alarm bells went off.

What do people think? I'm not sure how many people actually read this blog or even know what I draw but for those of you that do...let's say I put up t-shirt designs. Would people buy them? (I'm not asking if YOU would buy them although if you would, that would be nice to know as well.)

Speaking of art and whatever, for those of you who wonder what I've been doing lately in terms of creative stuff...I've been hosting online Mafia games. It's super fun and I get to talk to a lot of people I don't normally chat with. I also draw stuff and make clues for the players. I was also playing the previous Mafia games and totally let people play with my honkers and touch my tits for that mayor role. (I totally had the jugs for that position!)

Okay, back to lying on the bed and trying to get more sleep.

Today is Victoria Day and there are fireworks. I keep thinking that they are fireworks that my mother will never see.

I've been playing mafia and now I'm hosting a mafia game. It's fun and it's all good. It's the kind of thing I was looking for. I've been trying to find ways to separate myself from work and de-stress. DrunkDuck is nice and all but it's a type of work. Creating comics is fine but it's also a type of work. Hosting a game and drawing people being cheated on by a noose is totally fun. :D

School's ending soon and I'm kind of glad. I just have to get the kids moving. I still feel mildly burned out and I've been noticing that I get headaches a lot. I used to get headaches maybe once every three months? Now it's at least once a week. I already went to the doctor about it and it's either stress, lack of sleep (from stress), environmental issues, or my glasses. Not sure which but I do know I get less headaches (or none at all) during the weekends.

Anyhow, back to work~

Did I ever mention that my cell phone is so hawt?

I didn't think there would be any phone out there that would replace my love for my old phone but man I love this pink! I like the wallpaper! I like the ring tone that I use as an alarm to wake me up! I would love this phone more if I didn't buy it from that bastard Rogers who locked my phone so now I can't play any MP3 I want as my ringtone...but still, I love you phone. <3 Even if your ring tones suck.

But alas, this phone means I can no longer use Sir Humpington of Humpalot. ;___;









(Those are pictures of my old phone by the way. I actually stopped using Humpington last summer since it's hard to put your cell in your pocket if Humpington there is humping away~)

Okay, reeeeally quickly here...

I'm looking for this series of Photoshop edits. I'm not sure which group did it but I think it was some informal fun contest thing (possibly in Something Awful)? Anyway it features this photograph of this chubby Asian boy. The photograph was constantly edited using Photoshop turning him into various things. (One of them even had him turned into Doraemon.)

Does anyone know where I could find it? I'm giving out an assignment to my students about extreme Photoshop editing where they have to morph themselves in Photoshop and I figure that would be a humorous example to show.

So this is the third night I've dreamt about work. Today was me dreaming about freaking out about how I forgot things. Last time I dreamt about the PowerPoints I made and how I've forgotten to put in things like horizon line (which I then woke up and went to the computer to put in.) The time before, I dreamt I was so late for work and panicked.

I like teaching. I just want that to be said first before I say anything else. I know I whine about it but I do like the challenge. This is also the beginning of my career so I know it'll be rough.

But I found this semester difficult for me. I'm planning every night and trying to stay one step ahead. It's tiring. It's like being in a practicum all over again and a practicum was really stressful. You're thrown into a school with people you don't know, have two days to orient yourself before you have to plan a unit to teach to a bunch of kids you barely know the name of.

At least now I know their names. Some of them just act like crazed, clueless monkeys.

But this is a new term so I'm hoping to do things better. And maybe drive myself LESS crazy so that at the very least, I can get away from work even in my dreams. Which is really my beef about dreaming about work. I wake up early to go to work. I stay at work for an hour or two to work some more. Then I go home to do more work. Can I not, at the very least, get a break from work when I'm dreaming? Like seriously. Can my subconscious at least be work free?

1. I won my domain back. I had to do it at work but I stuck around and bid on my domain name during the last four minutes of the auction. So now I have to wait for my own redemption period to end so that I can then redirect the URL back to my site.

This whole business has made me want to update the site again. I've considered starting completely over but more on that when I actually DO update.

2. I found out I am currently not slated to be surplused. What this means is that next year, I'll still have a job at that school. It's not quite certain how this will work given that I teach English and visual arts and the school is FULL of English and art teachers...but I'm not surplused. So they'll find a schedule for me to teach.

I suspect that my colleagues had a hand in this. My curriculum leader told me that she's been saying nice things about me to the administration so I am very thankful for that. It's good to know I'll still have a job. :)

Oh and I found a pair of jeans today that fit. <3 I guess that makes THREE awesome things! But yes, it glides over my legs like smoooooth butter baby~ Hawt. And they were on sale too!

I ended up staying at work until 8 PM. I mean, I've stayed until 7 before but 8? The caretakers were trying to kick us out by that time!

I guess what made this particular incident a bit hard for me was the pounding headache I had from about 2 PM and onward. I hardly ever get headaches but after that rough night of sleep I had, I guess I had it coming. I tried to do some marking but I only got one sent of assignments done. On the bright side, I inputted those marks and did two classes' worth of comments and learning skills.

But yeah. I'm glad my colleague was there too...I wouldn't want to be leaving that school alone so late at night. I had to walk to the parking lot by myself though once I reached my area after the subway ride. I came home at around 9 PM.

I'm so glad I stayed though. If it took me five hours to do the amount of work I did, there was no way I could have completed all my marks AND put in the comments AND do the learning skills on Monday after school. I joked about sleeping over yesterday but if I had left it for Monday, it wouldn't have been a joke.

I went to bed early only so that I can be woken up at various points during the night by the wind whistling through my window. It wasn't like the window was opened or not shut properly. It's just the wind going through the cracks and me being high up that causes the noise. (That and me sleeping beside the window.)

So finally, at 5 AM, I opened the window instead. Sure it may be cold as hell but at least I finally got to sleep.

On the bright side, I won the auction yesterday and got my domain name back. So now I don't have to pay $80 in redemption fee (plus ten in renewal) just because I didn't renew my domain name on time. I had to stay at work and use their computer to win the auction though but luckily my colleague humoured me on that.

Oh and work politics suck.

There is this girl who keeps e-mailing me asking for a picture. (At least I think she's a girl as a boy named Jen Lee would be weird.) She has e-mailed me three times and requested to be added to my Google Talk list twice.

She didn't offer any explanation as to who she is. Well she did but she introduced herself as lilann4400 but that doesn't tell me anything because that's what her e-mail is too. No explanation as to how she found me or whether I should know her from somewhere. Just a "mai nam is lilann4400" followed by requests for pictures.

I don't know who she is so I didn't respond at all. This isn't the first time I've gotten random e-mails from other people who made a mistake and e-mailed me instead. But she seems really persistent about the picture.

Unless she starts identifying who she is though, I'm not responding. This is the equivalent to having someone constantly send me letters by mail and asking for my picture. Uh, excuse me? Who the hell are you? What kind of picture are you asking about anyway? And what do you mean I only have a picture? Should I know you from somewhere?

So um, this is starting to turn out to be an interesting March Break...

So for the past couple of days, the following has happened:

- My credit card was found to be compromised and now it has been terminated. I am waiting for a new one.

- Yesterday the ABS and brake lights turned on on the dashboard of my car. The brakes still work but the ABS is probably not working. Since there's a severe snow storm right now, I'll have to take it in to fix on Sunday when the driving conditions are better.

- My computer has been displaying a blue screen everytime I run a game or a movie file. A bunch of words come on then it quickly restarts but I caught the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL part. Googling it, it appears to be either the computer overheating, driver problem, or hardware damage. (If anyone can add insight to this, that would be cool.)

- I could not sleep. I crashed at 2 AM, woke up at 4 AM, then woke up again at 7:30 AM. I gave up on sleeping.

- I couldn't seem to eat either. I just...didn't feel hungry at all yesterday.

On the bright side, Advil is working as always which I suppose means that Advil is awesome.
